News: Last Major Voice for Attack on Titan Revealed

Anime Boston started this weekend, and in the moments leading up to the English premiere for Attack on Titan, FUNimation revealed who the voice actor is for Eren Jaeger, the main character of the series.  Bryce Papenbrook (Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist, Kida in Durarara!!, Kirito in Sword Art Online) was the one chosen to the play the leading role.  In a video released on FUNi's YouTube channel, Papenbrook introduced the official trailer for the anime, which you can watch below.

The hype train was going full speed for me while watching this video.  I'm looking forward to jumping back into the world of Titans and humans.  I have to admit that I wasn't expecting Papenbrook as Eren; he's definitely grown in popularity recently, voicing a lot of main characters.  He has the background to deliver great acting.  I'm unsure how I feel about this, though.  It's a little hard to judge from a 2 minute trailer of clips with blaring music running alongside the scenes.  However, I did really like his yelling near the end.

That's where most of my concerns for the voice acting lies--in the screams and yells.  The show is filled with them.  If they're not nailed in each scene and feel forced, a lot of the emotional impact will be lost.  From the few clips given to the public so far, I have high hopes that FUNi did a fantastic job on the dubbing.  I'm looking forward to Part 1's release in June.
